The Stunt Coordinator (in the UK) has usually
progressed through a training programme towards a confidence level in
order to work directly with leading artists in the creation of action
sequences.
His remit is to create; design; choreography action
sequences from a screenplay or Directorial vision for the production
company.
This remit might mean working with one or more
artists in low key action sequences (usually on television) right through
to choreographing a large team of stuntmen in a highly complex and fast
paced, major action sequence anywhere in the world (more usually for
motion picture)
The Stunt Coordinator on a creative basis; will work
closely with the Directorial vision for the piece and on larger scale
pictures; under the remit of the 2nd Unit Director. He will work out the
‘gags’ or stunts in all aspects of creativity and safety.
